The Nutcracker Suite
Training Camp

The Nutcracker Training Camp is an immersive, week-long experience designed to prepare dancers for the magic of performing in our annual Nutcracker Suite. This camp is required for dancers participating in the Nutcracker performance, as it lays the foundation for choreography, technique, and role preparation. However, participation in the performance is optional, and dancers are welcome to attend the camp independently

Dates & Times​

Foundation Dancers: August 17–21, 9 AM–3 PM

Intermediate Dancers: August 10–14, 9 AM–3 PM

Advanced Dancers: August 3-7, 9 AM–3 PM

What to Expect​​

  • Daily Training: Ballet-focused instruction with supplemental styles that enhance Nutcracker performance skills

​

  • Character Workshops: Learn how to embody iconic Nutcracker roles, such as soldiers, party guests, and snowflakes

​

  • Choreography Sessions: Work on excerpts from the Nutcracker repertoire tailored to each age and skill level

​

  • Crafting & Creativity: Engage in Nutcracker-themed arts and crafts to deepen the festive experience

​

  • End-of-Camp Showcase: A mini-performance at the studio to show off new skills and choreography learned throughout the week

Age Guidelines & Prerequisites 

(age ranges are guidelines; placement is based on class level)

Foundation Dancers (ages 5–8) “Littles”

Prerequisite: none

Intermediate Dancers (ages 8–13) “Middles”

Prerequisite: Completion of Ballet: Sapphires or teacher approval

Advanced Dancers (ages 11–18) “Bigs”

Prerequisite: Completion of Ballet: Emeralds or teacher approval
